Shopping. Why is it so much fun? Well, it’s something you can call your own, for one. You buy a sweater now it’s yours. A simple piece of green paper with a former President’s face on it, accompanied by his name, and it’s suddenly worth something. I heard somewhere it used to be chickens. Well, wasn’t that worth something? You could eat the chicken, and have food. But you don’t eat the cash. Or coins. You’d choke on the coins…
Why isn’t it fun? Well, most of the time, it is time-consuming, considering you have to like something (excluding groceries, I’m referring to purchasing clothes or novelties) to use your own money to buy it. And money doesn’t come from nowhere. You have to work for it. So when you work for something, you don’t just blow the money, you want to make sure the work wasn’t for nothing. These are the things that make us wish that money trees WERE real.
