Khmer rouge soldier for english project
He murdered and shattered them all one by one,
There was Blood on his hands yet to be gone.
He killed his people  and disregared their cries
He knew their fate, was the worse; to die.

He did not want to do it for them but felt he had to
They forced him to do it to create a new view
They promised him the world and so much more
And for that, they were right, he thought for sure

He smashed the heads and watched them bleed
A pure country was all that they need
No one was safe from his grab, not one could hide
And when he found them, 'Stop this' they all pleaded and cried

The screams in the jungle were muted by him
And to the witnesses any emotion he forbade of them
The babies they died against the trees as mothers looked on
Thier tears hidden in the darkness before the morning's dawn

He saw the blood on his hands and soon felt pain
But he kept on hurting them, under the government reign
These were his brothers, his sisters and more
And it was their lives from them he knew he tore

But what could he do? He knew, he could not rebel,
And how could he not save them all but bid farewell?
He knew he could do nothing but decide to run
He had to be gone from here, he had to be done

He would become a faceless soldier no one could find
He could turn it off, he could become blind.
The whispers would haunt him in the wind as he escaped
Their screams in his ears, in his eyes girls were still raped.

He could not shake those dark pictures from the sky
And when it started to rain, he knew the clouds did not lie
His people were  mourning for being killed without reason
And he had done it to them, on his people committed treason

He ran so far yet everyone still knew who he was
He could never be free from the red party flaws.
The regime would always  be there to haunt the night
And he knew now, they could have never ever been right.

But what can a faceless soldier do now?
He could help them and save them all, but how?
He heard the cries in his sleep every restless night
Forever the images, they creeped in every sight

Until that night, he would fall into a dark sleep
And from the world, his secrets forever keep.
Never to feel what it was like to be painless,
Never, not with his desicion to remain faceless.
