i have Dedicated To My Wife, Connie, Of 48 Yrs |
An Ode of Love Oh dearest one, sweet love of my life, When we first met so many years ago I knew that God brought me to you He blessed me and gave you to me for my wife I remember well the first time we met When I looked upon your deep dark eyes Your beautiful face and skin so fair The lovely softness of your long black hair A warm sweet touch of your lips when we kissed The rapid beat of my heart when we embraced The beautiful way you looked the day we wed Arrayed as an angel, only the wings had been missed Remember the birth of angels god gave to us Our first house, the klunker cars Birthdays,Christmases and other things we did in a rush Nights at the river we all slept under the stars I have done many wrong things and hurt you so To ask you to forgive and forget my sins Is very hard for you to do, I know Try to take the hurt from your heart and let my love enter in You are a woman of tender heart, loving all living things People, children, trees, flowers, birds and all animals Such a person I have never before known Surely you will be an angel in the kingdom of the Lord So let me tell you now that I do love you so For death comes in the blink of an eye With no time left to tell loved ones even good-bye I want you to know how I feel before I go So if I be the first one to leave do not grieve or despair Remember all the good times we have had I’ll be in heaven standing by the gates And I will wait for you there But if you are alone______ or even with another If by chance the occasion should arise If in your heart you can find it to be Please___ Try to save the last dance for me Your loving husband jerry This poem is dedicated to my wife Connie As of this writing we have been married 46 years 06/10/2005 |
