Silly or not?

Words can be a comfort, true
Yet can they be of hurt to you.
They cannot be undone at all
They oft are cause of great downfall.

Think long and hard before you speak,
For often quick is sign of weak.
Choose any that you like, or not,
For one thing's sure - a choice you've got.

They talk to us, these words, to me
They tell the mind what eyes do see.
Were it not for words that spark,
We'd live forever in the dark.

Some words I use are silly, yes,
But silly's great - I must confess.
So judge me not by words I write
Perhaps my words could grant you sight?
