The adventures of two doggy friends of mine. |
THE TAILS OF LUCY AND BROCK. I'll tell you a story of Lucy and Brock, Two very large dogs that I know. They belong to the people who bug-proof my house With spray, every twelve months or so. Well, Lucy and Brock love their afternoon walk Down by the river each day. So when Mike and Trish have finished their tea They take the dogs out for a play. My two human friends came home late one day And found with horror and shock, The gates were wide open, and all through the yard, Not a sign of Lucy or Brock! Down at the park by the river they found Their pets at play with their mates. It was walk time and play time, a regular thing, Wasn't their fault their owners were late! That was just the beginning, for now the dogs knew They could go for a walk "Just because!" The very next day, they walked past the store, Automatically opening glass doors! Into the shops they sauntered and wagged, Leaving stock on the floor where it fell. A mad chase ensued and the pair were escorted Next door, to a vet they knew well! The Veterinary surgeon phoned Trish and Mike And announced the dogs had been found. "Come down and get them at once!" he demanded, "Or this pair will be off to the pound!" Some detective work showed that Lucy had learned If she held her head close to the latch, And Brock charged like a bull at the front yard gate, It would shake and undo the catch! The gate is now tied and fastened securely No further escapes are forseen. But I'm waiting for next time, when Mike sprays again, And tells me where else they have been! Just a little footnote: I'd like to add it too, There are some Aussies words, that will not rhyme for you. Don't say "becoz" in stanza 5! Like I do...say "becorse" The poem reads okay this way, for then it rhymes with "doors"! I had to add this little note, For many have told me, true! My lines don't rhyme in stanza 5? With my Aussie accent... they do! Cheers Meg |
