When my Grand daughters sleep over .......... |
PLAYING WITH GRANDMA. I love my slumber parties, Grand daughters come to stay. But they seem to think that Grandma Is a toy with which to play! They bring along some products For their face and nails and hair, And set up little salons In the house - oh, everywhere! My nails are bright and shiny, The colour really glows, And I think they've stuck a little star On each of my ten toes! Then one of them got daring And produced a tub of goo, "Let's wax Gran's legs for her right now," "To see what she will do!" I clenched my teeth and bit my tongue Determined not to shout. I'd show these little darlings Just what bravery's all about! The wax applied, the strips in place Then ZIP - I smiled so sweet. Then raced into the bathroom And collapsed upon the seat! I should have known they had a plan When I heard the whispers there, And they offered so politely To wash and set my hair! The washing, rinsing, drying, Giggles, chuckles, untold glee! Then I looked into the mirror - Oh my goodness! Wasn't me! My hair is not exactly red. It's a sort of browny-gold. "Without your grey-white hair dear Gran" "You'll never look so old!" Why do I let them do it? These shocking things, to me? (Well, secretly, I love it, And I love their company!) How long does it take hair dye to grow out? And can I borrow a scarf from someone, please? |
