This poem is dedicated to all those affected by the London bombings 07/07/2005
Me with hair edged in red to remind people of the London bombings 7th July 2005.

This colouration of my hair, edged in red, is dedicated to the remembrance of the London bombings, July 7th 2005 on its second anniversary. If you look carefully there is a black streak next to the red, this depicts the darkness in the world. The small blonde streak is to high-light the spark of hope I still have that there is a resolution somewhere.

Thanks to Patrick my talented and artistic hairdresser and friend.

A mark of respect for those that died.
An acknowledgement for those that cried
And are still crying.
Seventh July two thousand and five;
I show support for those that survive
And are still trying
To erase scenes too dreadful to see,
Nightmares from which they are still not free.

I remember the bombers that day
Who blasted and tore, stripped lives away
And are still trying.
I ask everyone to take command,
To cry out against terror’s demand.
And I’m still crying
A message that we’ll never retreat,
Stand defiant, don’t accept defeat.

There emblazoned, my hair edged in red,
A mark of respect for injured, dead,
And those still dying.
I want all to know I really care
To make a statement, using my hair,
That I’m not buying
Into surrender, won’t live in fear,
I hope my message is loud and clear.
