I took her for granted and then she changed my life. I wanted her to know...
It must have gone on for quite a while,
Sometimes emotions refuse to fade.
Sometimes it’s best to bury them deep,
But the last thing I’d do is make a trade.

Memories confront you with good and bad times,
For you it’s hard to smile when I come to mind.
I’m sure I’d be loved if I were as nice as you,
But my reputation precedes me with countless crimes.

I may not be the beast,
Or the beggar on the street.
I may not be (Morris) Chestnut.
Or have billions at my feet.

I’m the 21st century brother who can light your fire,
The man that can show there’s more to being material.
I’m the 21st century brother who fulfills your last desire,
The man that can take you and make you life ethereal.

Not even **** (girl's name) could destroy that bond we had together,
I’d picture my hands on your waist as I stared at your face.
Your mouth half open and your love I could taste.
I fucked up but at least my mind cleared like the weather.

You’ve started a new life in school and you’re on a clean slate,
My mind ticks and the time still makes me wonder.
Forever I could wish on rather than reflections of fate,
But the weight of your lifestyle reflects on me going under.

I know your heart is weathered by what guys did to you,
I’m not gonna assault them cos I maybe acted the same.
Because of you I now handle my feelings with care,
Some guys recognize the light but they can’t handle your flame.

The harder I run to you the further you become.
It’s like my heart was part of the same movie that hadn’t yet started.
Strong woman, you move me and I’m a mountain of a man.
You pull me in like waves do grains of sand soon parted.
