Penicillin Dolls
Penicillin Dolls Lining the Walls
Full of love and hope
Eyes abashed, fluttering with ease
In a deathly mist; you try to breathe,
But smoke is not for breathing.
I take one down, pat its hair
And lick its sightless eyes
Revolting and ugly I put it away
Back to its spot, for another bad day
To another place and another sorrow.
The room is empty and dead
A flower wilting in the corner
I guess I should leave, holding my breath
Uncannily dodging this ethereal death
Or maybe I could stay and try again.
But can you really turn back time?
Can you reverse the end?
Sweat pours from my veins
Sticky and red and odorless
I guess ill have to try again
I inhale
I try
Can’t say I didn’t
Then I die.
