Thoughts before meeting a client.
She stood naked in front of the body length mirror with her arms stretched out at her sides. Nothing reflected. What she saw had a body with limbs, hair, and eyes. But what she saw wasn’t human.
Couldn't be. Not after everything.
She turned around, her back now to the mirror and stretched her neck over her shoulder to look again. Yes, everything was there, sure. She had a round rump, of course. The curves, indicative of her sex. Flipping her hair around her shoulder to get a clearer view of the back she had. It was toned and tanned. She breathed heavily and turned to face the front again.
Her breasts were round and perky. Nipples stood erect, almost at attention. There was a draft in the room around her, her skin prickled.
She wondered what it was all for. The soft skin, her dark hair and green eyes. Was she to remain an object of pure procreation her entire life? Wouldn’t someone see something else besides sex or legs? She wondered. She also doubted.
The room around her and all of its furnishings reminded her that the body she was given gave her everything. From the posh modern decor, all the way to the gold satin with black velvet inlay dress she was to wear to the casino downtown to meet her next client. This thing she lived in, the thing looking back at her through the mirror, was everything.
The bank account, groceries, clothing, this loft in Manhattan, and her clients' favorite play thing.
She flipped her wavy black hair to her back and brushed a stray strand of it off her brow. Reaching her hands up, she tussled it some, holding bits of it up with one hand and turning her face from side to side then decided to just wear it down. She allowed it to fall again. She smiled her sweetest into the mirror. The reflection was nice.
She stepped away from the mirror to slip on her dress and shoes. It was 6 o'clock and she didn’t want to keep Dan waiting. He was always such an eager lover. Always tipped, which wasn’t necessary. He was the sweetest of them.
The door closed behind her and she locked it. As she put her key into the leather cream clutch she wondered if he would take her to dinner again like last week.
