A Single Red Rose

A single drop of blood
A single red rose
A little child asleep
         fallen into an endless doze

A light at the end of the tunnel
A darkness closes in
A silence so dark and pure
         you can hear the drop of a pin

A golden red sunrise
A crisp dark night
A child fallen from grace
         and out of the golden light

A single pen on paper
A thought that is let free
A single moment wasted
         and none of the world can see

A single lick of the lips
A little sly smile
A little child’s fear
         hidden for a while

A moonlit dark night
A fading sunrise
A moment of despair
         is everyone’s demise
