Chapter 2

Love is looking for her

Now again Amy disappeared from church again. She had resigned her job again, and found herself might be difficult to be accepted by them. A period of time later, she received an anonymous message from her handphone. It was from her ex-colleague.
“How are you?”
“Who are you?” Amy messaged back. She simply could not remember who the person is.
“I borrowed the ear plugs from your counter. Do you remember me? My name is Melvin.”
Amy remembered there was a guy who borrowed some ear plugs from her. She was a receptionist then. That time he asked her to get her phone number in order to return her the ear plugs. She messaged, “I remember you. What’s the matter?”
“I heard that you already resigned. Why did you want to resign?”
Amy was actually sick of answering this question because she had heard this question umpteen times. “I felt quite stressful, I just simply could not cope the job tasks and the stress.” She tried to make her words short. Then Melvin went on and on messaged her asking how her family and how she was. Amy just replied his question one by one. Melvin asked her, “You want to go out with me?”
Amy startled and did not know how to reply him.
“I like you.”
Though Amy did agree to go out with him. But she had been made up some excuses not to meet him. Like look after kid brother, not free, and etc. In the beginning she thought that he being demanding attention in some ways, so she did not feel like going out with him.
She did not want to reject him, because she needs some companionship. Then suddenly she realized it was all wrong. Her mind was still thinking of James. She finally could not stand her feeling any more longer. She decided to check up on James whether he was interested in her. She pressed the keys on her handphone, “Hi James, I just want to let you know I like you.”
She stared at her handphone for quite sometime. There was no reply from James. Amy was getting panic. Soon she received a reply, “Can I call you?”
Amy prayed in her heart, no God, I did not want to hear any rejection from him. So she messaged James, “If you don’t like me, you don’t need to call me, just message me will do. Thanks.”
Amy finally had a relief from her heart. She thought she will not receive any reply from James. She heard a beep sound which I think..err..nearly made her nearly going to have a heart attack.
She covered the handphone screen and read word by word, “If I like you, can I call you?”
Suddenly her mind went blank.

Amy finally had a chance to talk to James and had a chance to understand his background. They finally made an arrangement to meet the next day. She asked him through the phone, “Why did you like me?”
James asked her the same question back, “Why did you like me?”
Amy felt embarrassed, “Err..no lah, because you look cool to me..”
“Ok, you can answer my question now. Why did you like me? I mean what did you like in me?”
“Err, how to answer your question?”
“Is this question very difficult for you to answer?” Amy seem abit doubt of his sincerity.
“No, is just that I saw how you bring our two friends back together as a couple again. Just feel that you are unique.”
Amy was speechless.
Amy knew herself was not as pure and unique like what James said. She knew inside her heart she needed to confess something to him that was not fair for him and Melvin.
