If you have no idea what marching band is like read this!
The band is a body
Of music
Playing for the crowds
The drums
Bass
Snare
Quads
They are the heart beat of
The crowd
The band
The bodies
Slowly getting
Faster
Faster
Faster
As we approach
The field
The Brass
Trumpets
Trombones
Saxaphones
They are the nerves
Kicking in
Steadily getting
Louder
Louder
Louder
The Lows
Bass Clarinet
Bari Sax
Tuba
They are the consciences
Of the band
Telling them
They're going to
Mess up
Lose their spot
Totally miss a move
The woodwinds
Flutes
Clarinets
Saxaphones
They are the quiet consciences
Saying you can do it
But you don't hear that
You freak yourself out
The Cymbals
Crash
Ride
High Hat
They are the outside world
Chaos
Rampant
Wild
Surrounding the band
The Colorguard
Flags
Hoops
Streamers
They are the visuals
The subject
Of the center of our eyes
Twisting
Turning
Crisp movements
The Drum Majors
Leaders
Beat keepers
Directors
They are the Bosses
Of the band
Making sure everyone
Completes their job
"Resume March 1 2 3 4"
The tap off begins
The body of the band
Moving their feet
Prepared to march
For what is next to come
Knees shaking
Ears hurting
From the snares
The heart beat getting
Louder and louder
Your mind full of thoughts
But
Empty at the same time
You feel your stomach
Rising to your mouth
Head Thrashing with pain
The tap stops
Instead they are
Doing roll offs
"Band ten hut"
Hit
The show starts
Nerves disappear
Head ache goes away
Stomach settles down
And you completely
Forget about everything
You just play you're heart out
And celebrate when it's over
