A red rose displays its beauty
for all the world to see.
A tight furled bud will open out
and set its perfume free.

Your love is like a red rosebud
that opens just for me.
Its velvet petals, when unfurled
can set our sweet love free.

But you know, for all their beauty
when you grasp roses tight,
the sharp thorns ranged along the stem
impart a painful bite.
