Dear bliZ, These are the strangest creatures I have ever encountered. I still haven’t entirely figured out their spoken languages, or even how they make sound, but I have figured out how to translate their writing, although the structure seems very odd. It seems the ones on this continent write from right to left, going from the top down towards the bottom. The strangest thing about them(besides this color business, which I’ll return to later), is that they actually use two of their appendages to travel, and only have two left to manipulate things. Also they use something on their “faces”, called their “eyes”, to see. Their “faces”, in fact, seem to be the most useful parts of their bodies. They store four of their five senses on these “faces”. That’s another odd thing about them. They apparently have five senses instead of two. I’m not sure how they handle all that information at once. They call the last three taste, smell, and hearing. Actually, it sounds to me as if taste and smell are about the same thing, but the creatures(I believe they call themselves “humans” although some seem to prefer I refer to them as earthlings. Perhaps they are two different subspecies? But I digress) insist this is not the case. I suppose they are the experts. Also, their sight seems to be more detailed than ours; which brings us back to the issue of colors. Apparently, these creatures view things as having a multitude of different shades, rather than just black and gray. They say I am “purple”. They seemed to be somewhat confused about the color of the salaK IV. One of them, in an attempt to describe it, said it’s usually silver, but that when it’s activated it’s “like a rainbow crashing into an aurora”. I’m not sure what that means, but it sounds very interesting, and I really wish I was capable of perceiving it. In my next message, I’ll talk about their culture. Hopefully by then I will have learned how to understand one of their languages. I think, with time, I’ll be able to vibrate in the correct manner to simulate their speech, but I will probably still sound rather odd to them. But at least then I will be able to communicate with them quickly, rather than constantly having to pass notes back and forth. Hoping to see you soon, filaZbli |
