Time

I know it needs work!

This is a poem I wrote right after Hurricane Katrina when there was nothing but prejudice in the news.

In a time when we should come together,
instead we are falling apart.
Someone is raping someones daughter,
someone else is slaying a father.

You say a black man is stealing,
but the white man is helping his family.
Others say if it would have been a white city,
this disaster wouldn't be.

Mother Nature is color blind.
She knows no sense of black and white,
knows not who is rich or poor,
maybe more people should be Mother Nature.
