This is a little poem I made in honor of a well used muse of mine.

The wino.

Wine, oh, how I love you.
You stay so red, when I feel so blue.
You dull my senses, yes it’s true,
Just one of the reasons I’ll always love you.

You fill my shelves, red, white and sparkling.
When I brush my teeth, it’s you I’m gargling.
I’ll start my day with a glass,
A box at night to put me on my ass.

Bottles, glasses, bags and boxes,
I’m not picky, just drunk and obnoxious.
For it comes in many shapes and sizes.
“Drink all you can!” claimed Dionysus.

You’ve been around for many centuries,
Supplying all Earth with many pleasantries.
Like Japanese rice wine, they call it Sake.
Enjoy a glass while eating Pocky.

Some, who are ritzy, like to spit you out.
This makes me angry, “A waste!” I shout.
They wear a monocle and call it wine tasting.
“Wreckless,” I say. “Precious drinks you are wasting!”

For you’re my breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Who needs food? This makes me thinner.
You and your pal, the cigarette,
Within these two, is all the nutrition I get.

I will admit, we’ve caused some trouble,
I'll be Fred, you're Barney Rubble.
A few glasses, then we ride in my car
When the cops chase us, we run so far.

I thank your for making my confidence strong,
Despite that fact, still not Don Juan.
While you do get me attention with the ladies
It’s just them asking "Been drinking lately?"

No matter, for you can keep me company,
And now I propose, on bended knee.
Let us stay together, forever,
O shit, just spilled you, on my sweater.

Anyways, you must see what you mean to me,
For I’m soon to pass out, I can hardly see.
So I raise my glass, in your honor. I’m your loving drunkie,
So glad I’ve found you, yes I feel so lucky.
