A poem for children about a spider and a damselfly at the annual creepy crawlies ball
'Twas at the creepy crawlies ball
the spider took a chance,
and to the lovely damselfly
said, "would you care to dance?"

She answered quite demurely
as she turned a pinkish hue,
"Oh yes sir, Mr Spider,
I'd love to dance with you!"

They made a handsome couple
as they glided o'er the ground,
the spider in his velvet coat
she in shimmering gown

They tripped the light fantastic
'cross the leafy forest floor,
the crowd stepped back in wonder
calling Encore! Encore! Encore!

Too soon the ball was over,
the guests bid their goodbyes
and the spider kissed the damselfly
beneath the jewelled skies

The spider skipped home happily
and danced a little dance,
and wondered if this was the start
of a very fine romance
