My little country girl don't forget your roots.

Country Girl

Do you remember when you were a barefoot girl?
Lived in the hills of Kentucky in your hillbilly world?
Yes, you may have moved to the big city far away.
So have you come back to visit or maybe to stay?

My country girl where have your memories gone?
So have you forgotten me and your country home?
You now wear fine clothes and jewelry of pure gold.
But, I remember your rags and no shoes in the cold.

No matter how hard you try to forget all your past.
You can't forget the memories they will always last.
Be proud of who you are and where you have been.
Yes, you're one of a kind my little country girlfriend.

I will live in Kentucky and always be your hillbilly boy.
If you've come back to love me you will bring me joy.
No you don't need all of those riches from the big city.
Stay here on the farm and we will not need any pity.

I will support you and we'll live in a decent slow life.
I'll be a good husband and you'll be my sweet wife.
I love you even though I am a true hillbilly at heart.
So I want to marry you and never again will we part.
