Story about my cat
Child Hood Memories: Persey

His coat was a shaded charcoal and metallic white
They were never sure where he came from, perhaps
He came from the neon lights of the bodega where
Flies amalgamated with the floor due to the mice traps
That were hidden beneath the metal racks of chips, salsa
Green and yellow plantains, cookies, and bread perhaps
Perhaps. But they knew for certain he appeared at our door
And instead of water being thrown at his feet he was given
Much more. My brothers and parents accepted his frigid
Cobalt eyes. Because at first, yes at first, he was gentle
Fell into the laps of my parents. Lapped the scraps off
The Table gracious for food, and played gently with my brothers
But it was all a façade. It started so slowly; he claimed
The remote, an oversized red pillow, the cushion, even the spine
Of the couch. Soon he reigned over the apartment and all
Who dwelled within. He forced his servants to find him the finest
Feline cuisine. The unfortunate thing here is his servants, my parents
Never saw his sins. A torn couch shredded by elongating nails, shoes chewed
On by jagged teeth, and a burned and mangled curtain that smelled
Of cat urine. “Me—the brothers did it—ow” he would say and he had
A clean slate until of course one of his servants gave birth. He tolerated
me at first, yes at first, dealing with her cries for attention: a bottle, a change…
But my needs were spoiling his dominance over the family. He grew
Weary of me after three days and was instantly filled with spite
The only thing he could do was attack me when night fell. When I
Was asleep he watched over her like an angel’s whisper only his thoughts
Were menacing. He climbed into my crib and marked what he thought he could own
His eyes gave off an eerie yellowish, greenish, gold when he was through with
His task when I was to awake I would cry no more. His dander was in
My eyes, his pee was on my soft sheets, and his shit smelled of musty earth
He patted his self on the head with licked paws he was pleased until his
Servants, my parents, entered the room and he hid in his abyss until
His servants changed the sheets and bathed me scolding themselves
Underneath their breath for owning such a foul cat. When this was done he
Appeared from closet and watched me as I cried. He thought I
Had succumbed to his rules. I declared: “One day I’ll throw you in a garbage
bag and spin you around and then bury you in sand.” Nonchalantly he licked
his rose colored crayon penis and said, “Suuuure little girl catch me if you can”
