This is about an amazing girl, who's captured my heart.
I hate that I can't remember
The first time we ever met
The first time you said you loved me
How quickly things I forget

I'm scared that in my heart I know
That if I am not the one to who you pursue
If you find it in the arms of another
To my word, I will let go and stay true

I hate that I can't think
When I look into your eyes
And the fact I can't even fathom
How you can see through my disguise

I'm scared that you know me
In every single detail
That I can't hide from you
How quickly the walls around do fail

I hate that I can't begin to imagine
A world without you near-by
No matter what you are to me
Without you I can't see how these tears of mine will dry

I love how you can sense
Every pain and joy in my heart
How no matter how far away
We will never be too far apart

I love how you became maternal
When my soul was ever mistrusting and bittered
Without a shred of hope left
You worked to clean up what was once so littered

I couldn't be more grateful
For the support you have shown
The times you've encouraged and softened the blows
My wings now, are fit to be spread and flown

But above all else I love everything
And all of the selfless love you have gifted
Without a hint of demand or judgment
'Tis my heart you have uplifted

This poem may be corny
But words barely can describe
How I appreciate opening your arms
For welcoming me into your tribe

I hope I do your family proud
And know I'll treat their little girl right
I hope they learn to get to know and trust me
And know I'll be there for you day and night

They may think my talk is cheap
That I'm a stranger, but looking through my eyes will show
That the only thing I will ask from you
Is for your spirit to bloom and grow
