FAMILY OR LIVE IN?-- a sonnet


It’s difficult to say what virtue is
And what, in fact, does constitute a vice.
It’s no use if we debate this topic;
In my view saying this much will suffice:

The young want the company of someone
For love and pleasure that he or she gives.
But yet commitment they want to have none.
It’s through commitment, a society lives.

Without a family there is no home.
A home means sons, daughters and the parents.
Outside countries like US, England, Rome,
The live-in a society resents.

Why avoid one’s responsibility?
Is family such a difficulty?
