This is just something I had to do for school and it had to be under 500 words.
Anah’s fiery red hair flicked over her shoulder as she spun around and sliced her falcata  through one of the enemy soldiers. Her bright green eyes caught every move that the enemy made which enabled her to dodge each swing of a sword or stab of a spear aimed at her. She was a mercenary: hired to protect someone’s keep.  There were other mercenaries  too, some of them she knew..

The two she knew the best were Cloe and Devante.  Over several years of occasionally traveling together they had become good friends.

Devante had dark brown hair and deep grey eyes, he was of an average build and would always use his ‘lucky’ spear in battle. Despite his looks he was cowardly and very superstitious. Cloe looked different to most as she had white skin and hair, her eyes were very pink and she was smaller then most girls of her age. She had a very quiet voice but was always loud in what she had to say.

Anah was unsure how old they were but she presumed that Devante was about 23 and Cloe was roughly 15 years old. Anah didn’t know how old she was herself, her past was a mystery to everyone, even to her, for some reason she just couldn’t remember, but she looked 19 or so.

Anah hadn’t seen Cloe and Devante in the past few months. In their last encounter Cloe had said she was a pathetic fighter and so she left them to find their own work.

At this point Devante was fighting along side Anah, and she thought Cloe was in another room. “Devante...” she gasped, ducking under a soldiers sword, “shouldn’t you be fighting with Cloe?” his face became grim he seemed to suddenly lost the will to fight as Anah had to save him from an attacking soldier, “Cloe... was killed on our last job.” He murmured sitting on the ground in midst of a battle. “Oh get up, in our line of work your not expected to live long and it’s not like you raised her from childhood or anything!” she said trying to boost his confidence, she wasn’t very good at giving people speeches and she was beginning to tire from fighting for them both. “You don’t get it do you? She still WAS a child!” he yelled, this is when Anah’s short temper kicked in. “That’s it, I am not fighting for you anymore, if you die it’s your own fault!” she shouted, and with this a scimitar came crashing down and Devante was no more.

Anah had not expected this to happen, she thought he would get up and fight. She stood stunned when an arrow came flying towards her, she shielded it with one of her falcata’s.  Unfortunately at this exact moment another arrow came from behind and struck her in the neck. She did not live to tell the tale.
