The sun sets among the mountainous horizon
as I strain to see the beauty of it all.
A breeze whispers to me of all the things I’ve done
and I cringe at the beautiful disaster of it all.
The sky is turning, it’s always turning, a deep lovely purple
and there is a slight linger of pine in the air.
I begin to daydream of those endless days of nothing
and the mysterious nights that suddenly disappeared by dawn.
The night slowly kisses the sky with a winking star
and the coolness of the world begins to collect itself.
My eyes close and I drift off to dream
of those beautiful mistakes and improbable perfections that led me here.
