A poem about dealing with friends with addiction
That concoction in your hand
That you always choose to slam
May take your confusion for a moment in time
But you have no idea what your emotions do to mine
Beautiful you are and I once had some envy
Then we because best friends you and me
I blame myself for not seeing it consume you
Although it has control you swear you choose to
Confused and rude you become
As you stubble around and swear it’s fun
Angry and hateful that look in your eye
As you misplace your problems and tell me to die
Call me your mother because I won’t drink
And tell me you can’t process why you continue to sink
You tell me you can’t stand this, cant take anymore
And I think to myself how much more I’ll endure
How many insults and alcohol induced outburst
Before it consumes me this anger and hurt
I'm reaching out and continue to get through
You apologize and swear but your honesty is a grey hue
It’s as blurry as your blackouts, confusing as the aftermath
I try to believe you and cry inside while I nervously laugh
Nervous you see I'm past my own line
I can see but you ignore the sign
The sign screaming your at a dead end
And the fact that we can’t go back and mend
I hope you soon gain back some control
And realize what I already know
You have a huge problem it’s bigger then you
The bottle is little your intake not new
Im trying to stand by you as you push me away
Please help yourself soon if not today
Because Im past my line
And holding a farewell sign
Because your promises have become empty
Like the bottle in your hand yet you still don't see
