The Soul of a Man

I understand the large hearts of heroes,
The courage of present times, and that of all times,
How the leaders of today become the heroes of tomorrow,
The small hills which instantaneously become insurmountable mountains they eagerly climb.

A hero does not become one by choice,
For within his very being there must reside a courage rarely found,
A firmness of spirit, a swell of soul, which always stands firm,
Embracing danger and fear as they surround.

A hero has loyalty, which if measured, would be found second to none,
Continuously radiating a feeling of confidence and allegiance to actions,
His faithfulness and devotion to any person or cause unmistakable,
Never faltering in overwhelming circumstances, for such are never a distraction.

Determination is a clearly visible characteristic within any hero,
With a fixed intention and firmness of being, he walks steadfast in purpose and resolve,
Never hesitant or indecisive, his eyes take aim and never waver from principle,
Where others see faith dissolve amidst impossibilities, he sees opposites evolve.

To be selfless is an attribute which also resides inside a hero,
For it certainly is that of acting with unselfish worry where others are concerned,
The importance for the welfare of others with less concern for oneself is paramount,
For such comes naturally as if second nature, a quality which one could never adjourn.

And finally, a Hero must have the strength and peculiarity of mannerism to always sacrifice,
Willing to forfeit anything for another, although it may be perceived to have higher value or claim,
For such willingness to freely give without regard to one’s own self is a necessary ingredient,
No matter the sacrifice, his countenance remains high, for within his eyes there is never shame.

I understand the large hearts of heroes,
The courage of present times, and that of all times, is all too clear,
Where are the leaders of today and the heroes of tomorrow?
