Before I met him
I was alone.
I wanted to hide from the world
And the pain it had in it.

I didn't trust anyone.
I was the only person I could trust.
Everyone else would betray me.

Before I met him
I believed there was no such thing as love.
Love was only in fairy tales
And my life is not a fairy tale.

My world was in darkness.
I was lost and confused
And I didn't know where to go.

Before I met him
I had to force myself to be happy.
Behind every smile there was pain.
With every laugh there were tears.

Before I met him
I didn't know what it was like
To smile for no reason
And now I don't have to try and be happy.
