A child in Iraq vows to become a jihadi and avenge his father’s suffering. |
THE BIRTH OF A JIHADI Mom, where is my dad? When will He come back finally From the dreaded far off land Called Guantanamo Bay? I don’t remember his face But his picture so says: He is the bravest of all. I would grow up like him. ** Son, you’re right about the dad; He’s the bravest of all. I must tell you that in war He was never vanquished. He was a civilian guard Taken as a prisoner, ‘cause he served Saddam Hussein, The Prez of our Iraq. ** Mom, tell me why one Prez is Hateful of another? Why he does drop bombs on us; Kills and captures people? ** Son, the US Prez did see WMD in dreams. He said they were being hidden By our Saddam Hussein. It was a white lie, there were No such weapons in sight. The fact is, Bush wanted oil For dollars, not Euros. ** Mom, what’s wrong with the dollars? Why are Euros better? Why can’t the seller insist On selling on his terms? ** Son, the dollar was falling; Euro was going strong. If Saddam’s wish was granted The dollar would collapse. Buyers can’t dictate the terms. Bush wanted to play smart. He made up WMD, And then attacked Iraq. ** Mom, the treacherous US, Bully and lawbreaker, Is the real terrorist, Not our Saddam Hussein. Mom, if the US has dad In Guantanamo Bay, I vow I will avenge him. I’ll be a jihadi. • Written in 7-6-7-6 format • Jihadi= A Muslim fighting for a cause. He is often viewed as a freedom fighter by the country for whose cause he is fighting, but as a terrorist by others. Muslim jihadis fight in the name of Islam and believe in having a cause wherever they perceive injustice or threat or insult to Islam. * The research article detailing the Dollar-Euro background as the real reason for the Iraq war can be viewed at "Invalid Entry" • Initially written as entry 410574 in the book WAR POETRY "WAR POETRY--award winner" .
