I wrote this in 8th grade.
I look back,
Not that far,
And see myself,
Behind metal bar.

It's the Holocaust.
Many are dying.
I go to sleep,
Hearing people crying,

But among all the suffering,
And the bodies rank,
Came a young girl,
Whose name was Anne Frank.

A symbol of hope.
A symbol of peace.
A symbol of rebellion
Among the Nazi police.

She wanted,
Many a thing.
But most important,
She wanted to sing.

She wanted to sing, to play,
To be a young girl.
Then the Nazi police
Took her life for a whirl.

To Auschwitz
Is where she went.
A place where Jews
Didn't want to be sent.

Later she died
Near her birthday
But her memory lives on
To this very day.
