Once they open their books They get sucked Into a vortex of deception Once they open their books They get a map A guide to escort them Ever further into a place, Of hidden words and waiting clocks Tick Tick Tick A clock chimes 5 minutes Off in the distance A clock holds 4 in its hands But they don’t look up from the pages A clock warns 3 But they ignore what is happening A clock screams 2 until the rage comes Burning their precious, perfect pages Startled they are awoken from their daze They freeze in fear Tick Tick Tick A clock throws 1 up into the air One falls over motionless As maggots seep out of his mouth And the rest scramble Crying out as there never ending skies Go from heavenly blue to whirlwinds of gray Gusts strong enough to blow over the largest oak And flames replace the clouds Making everything cover in soot Tick Tick Tick Once THEIR world became reality They ran like cowards Once THEIR world became reality They ran to their “Savoir” Once THEIR world became reality They ran into a cement wall between him Once THEIR world became reality They ran to ones they labeled, “unfaithful” Once THEIR world became reality They fell every face turned up to him Allowing the birds to peck out their eyes The clouds surrounded them The vortex melting away Their skin like wax And the gusts blew Taking away every trace Of their existence Tick Tick Tick |
