the value of friendship and what it means to those most in need of it
I stare down at this strange sharp blade
I have clasped tightly in my palm barely feeling any pain
As the light shinning from the metallic object in my palm
Seems to light the darkened room and I feel alone
I close my eyes and think of those that I hold dear
And wonder will they miss me if I were to disappear
Will they feel sorry for me if I miraculously live through this?

Though before I try to plunge this blade into my pale flesh
I can feel someone’s hand wrapped over mine
I look up to see who was willing to try and save me
And I see your smiling face looking back at me
And I lower my hand dropping the heavy blade to the ground

The audible thud hit’s the floor as I burst into tears
You wipe them away whispering in my ear that it’ll all be okay
And as I stand here comforted in this comforting embrace
I can only help but cry harder not knowing what else to do
Realizing what a mistake I seemed so eager to make

I can barely meet your eyes feeling ashamed and regretful
And all you do is smile as my tears seem to cease
Your soft voice whispers for me to look up at your smiling eyes
And somehow a smile seems to crept upon my face as well
And I start to forget why I was so upset to begin with
And I think of the horrifying event I almost willingly participated in

And I can’t help but want to say, thank you
Thank you for being my friend,
Someone I know that loves and cares about me
Enough to find a way of making my pain and tears disappear
Without having to resort to such drastic measures
And that you’ll stick by me that you’ll stick by me no matter what

I only hope you understand how much I appreciate your friendship
If it weren’t for your everlasting concern
You’ve stopped me from making a mistake
A mistake I could never take back
And only end up hurting more than just myself
