Neighbor Ray stood at my door with an exaggerated expression, “Just wanted to stop and say I’m real sorry to hear about your break in.”
Just then, an abrupt wind whipped between our houses, forcing us to hunker down in the doorway.
A twister raged along Ray’s house, ripping off a section with each wild rotation.
The roaring tornado vanished, leaving behind an eerie silence.
Ray’s house was still standing, minus one wall, giving me a perfect view of its familiar contents.
I reached for my phone and dialed 911.
“I’d like to report the location of a thief.”
