A poem about reluctance to become involved emotionally, while being overcome by passion.
A giant wall shored up around my heart,
Steel reinforced so as not to be torn apart.
Praying that he truly intends me no harm,
I allow myself to be drawn into his comforting arms.

A tingling sensation develops from deep inside;
Butterflies frantically searching for a place to hide.
Strong, gentle hands in my hair; warm, wet breath on my neck
From hot, heavy kisses; passion barely held in check.

Insecurity about the condition of my body pervades,
But as he hungrily caresses, the worry gradually fades.
He unerringly makes all the right moves,
Skillfully adept at making me swoon.

Sweaty palms, racing pulse, rapid breathing,
Innately conscious of where this could be leading.
Desiring to freely enjoy the blissful moment at hand,
Yet guarded against falling too far to safely land.

Ultimately scared to be bitten by the bug,
Still I respond as though influenced by a drug.
Jumping right in, over my head,
Following blindly to where I am led.

Blood thundering deafeningly in my ears;
Intense pleasure to my eyes bringing tears.
As long, wet hair dries into a tangled mess,
Euphoria makes my emotions impossible to express.
