The early morning rain refreshes the earth below,
giving the seeds of yesterday a chance to grow.
Life-sustaining rain cleanses the barren earth
as a newborn baby cries out in the pain of birth.
Snow melts away and the birds begin to sing
welcoming in the rain's first signs of Spring.
A child splashes in the delight of the puddle
while some old folks shiver in a little huddle.
Out on the hillside, the soft rain continues to fall
while a flag is folded and given for one who gave all.
The tears are mixed with raindrops, it's hard to say
if the sun will ever shine again but come what may.
The rivers rise as the rain falls down, some swear
that the droughts won't come but I don't really care.
I have had enough of the troubles, grief and pain -
May the sunshine replace the early morning rain.
Rain can be welcomed or it can be depressing,
The weather is enough to keep us guessing.
I thought cabin fever was bad until I ventured out
and got a good glimpse of what mud season's about.
