A poem about misplaced trust and discovered betrayal.
The front door was kicked in
with glass covering our driveway
like millions of tiny revenge takers
waiting for me to run up in bare feet.
Well I climbed in the back window
careful not to break anything else
and watched her seduce the old man
then push him out the front door.
His body soon began to bleed from all those wounds
while he tried to limp out of my empty drive.
Then she turned to me and smiled
while her sweet scented breath
innocent as birth
slapped me across the mouth
and I cried.
