A reflection on bowling - class, spirit, judgment, and character - during the Holidays... |
After a bowling party the night before, I often go bowling again on New Year's Day, In a tournament at 10 o'clock and perhaps A two-person, team event at 1 o'clock. The location is Cloverleaf Family Bowl In Fremont, California, an old bowling center Nearing its 60th year of existence, A great family, children's and friend's gathering spot In the Greater San Francisco Bay Area. My close, personal friends often tease me About my bowling, saying how satisfied they were, And are, with their scores, and how their averages Keep climbing, while mine stays the same or gets worse, Year after year. It's true - I've had some ups and downs, But I've always managed to have fun and enjoy the game; And even though there were times when I lost my cool and Totally erupted, mostly out of displeasure and frustration, But partly out of wanting to improve my average score, I learned the most valuable lesson on a day like today - New Year's Day, a new beginning, a brand new year - No matter what happens, It's all for the best. Trust in faith, It's all for the best! So now, I keep my chin up... I'm not afraid to try 110 percent - Because it's just bowling; it's just a game... Don't be afraid to try 110 percent, And LOVE the game!!! |
