I love how the words fit together to create a picture.

Why do I write? What do I want to do with my writing? My ultimate goal? Those are good questions, but what are the answers?

I write because I love to. I love how the words fit together to create a picture. How they are strung together can determine the effect they will have on a reader. Will they laugh or cry, smile or frown? It is all up to me; the words I use...the order I put them in. Words are so awesome.

Which brings me to the next question. What do I want to do with my writing? I want to touch someone's life with my writing. No...to tell the truth, I want to touch lots of lives with my writing.

My dream has always been to write and draw. I gave up on both around thirty years ago. Writers and artists aren't very plentiful around North Central Nebraska, or so I thought. Three years ago I realized my dreams can't come true if I don't try. So I have been learning, practicing, doing. Ranching takes a lot of my time, but I love it as much as I love writing and drawing. So the logical solution was to write and draw about what I know, ranching.

Since I made this commitment to myself, there has been a steady flow of inspiring people entering my life just when I need them most.

My ultimate goals? A book of short stories about life on a ranch in the Sandhills of Nebraska, illustrated by me. And a series of children's books, also illustrated by me, following the adventures of a little black-haired girl and her pony, Chip.
