who i am

Who I am

Take a look at me
you might think
that you can see
right through me

Well take a second look
and then maybe you'll see
that things are never as they seem
and you don't know a thing about me

Try as you may
to break me, change me
but, soon you'll realize
my will is stronger then you know

I used to look up at you
when I was very young
all that I would see
was disappointment in your eyes

I wasn't what you wanted
and you couldn't change me
to be all that you desired
so you hated me

No matter what I did
no matter how hard I tried
nothing was good enough
in your eyes

Now I realize
I don't need your approval
all I really need
is for me to just be me
