THE BOOK IN HER DREAMS IS INTRODUCED TO HER WAKING LIFE
On Saturday morning Kindle helped Madeline unload the things she picked up from the Braden's house. Kindle was happy to see that she picked out the Armoire along with some other interesting things. Madeline was very excited to tell Kindle about all of the jewelry that she found. The brought it back in a very nice jewelry box. Madeline didn't seem very interested in the armoire, but she did pull out every piece of jewelry and tell Kindle what she thought of it. They unloaded everything one by one and when Kindle reached for the armoire Madeline stopped her.
"Oh, I forgot to tell you, I really appreciate your helping me out while I was in the hospital, I know you liked that armoire because it was the only thing you mentioned when we spoke. I thought you could have it. I have already cleared out everything. Most of this jewelry was inside. I will drive it over to your apartment if you like." Madeline was happy with Kindle's reaction.
Kindle couldn't help but smile and thank Madeline a million times for her gift. When they arrived at Kindle's apartment Kindle was happy that she had put the mirror under her bed last night after Jake had left. She wasn't going to leave it out anymore after what had happened. Kindle felt like there was more to the story of the mirror and its connection to the legend then she could understand right now. So she decided to keep it out of sight.
When they got it into her apartment Madeline helped her bring it up and said goodbye and left. Kindle opened all of the drawers and decided to get the vacuum out to get rid of all the dust. She finished all but the last drawer when something very strange happened. The bottom drawer came up. At first Kindle thought that the nails were loose, but then she noticed that the room in the drawer was much less than it should be. It should be much deeper. There must be a secret compartment. She pulled up on the bottom of the drawer with the suction of the vacuum and it lifted all of the way out. Underneath was the leather bound book she had seen in her dreams and the mirror. It was very dusty but Kindle couldn't believe it. Kindle picked up the book and set it on the table. She looked at it for a moment wondering what could be inside. She reached for the clasp and unhooked it. She opened the book and noticed a symbol at the front; it was the same symbol Kindle had designed for her tattoo on her back. She stared at the drawing wondering how it could be possible that she had designed the same symbol that had been inside a book she had never seen. She had never seen the book in person, she had seen it in her dreams, but not actually seen inside the book. Kindle continued to flip through the book carefully. Most of the writing was in old English, some was Latin and a few pages were written in the witch's writing. She recognized it but didn't know how to read it. Kindle began reading a few sentences on each page to get a clue about what kind of things were in the book. She passed by an old version of the Wiccan creed and the pagan holidays. Then a section of herbs and there uses. It had rules on circle casting and tool cleansing. After all of the rules there were pages dedicated to the higher self and meditation. About halfway through the book she reached the spells. The first was a spell used for releasing negative energy. Kindle noticed a note at the bottom of the page outlining the importance of a controlled environment and making sure the energy was released deep into the earth through the feet and not just at the surface. Any chaos in the release could cause physical damage to the body or surrounding objects.
That is what happened last night! She realized that her mind had released all of the emotion she was feeling onto the surface of the earth and caused the car alarms to go off and the light to break. The explanation sounded so simple, but Kindle didn't remember even trying to do this. It must have been an accident. She turned the page to see what else she could learn.
A knock at the door made her jump, Kindle figured it would be Ann, but she didn't want to tell Ann about the book just yet. She didn't know what was happening. So she put the book back into its original hiding place and went to answer the door.
"I guess you haven't been outside of the apartment today." Ann said as soon as Kindle opened the door.
"What do you mean?"
Ann pointed to a note taped to the door. How could she have missed that when she brought the armoire up? Kindle grabbed it and Ann followed her inside. When Kindle opened the note she looked at the bottom for a signature first. It was from Jake.

Kindle
I had fun last night. Let me know if you want to talk about what happened.
I know I said I would let it go but I can't stop thinking about it. Call me!
Jake

"What is he talking about?" Ann asked.
Kindle changed her mind and decided not to keep the book from Ann. She explained what happened at Luke's and told Ann what Jake had told her about the Legend he thought she was a part of. After she told Ann about the legend, Kindle decided to pull out the book from its hiding place and show her the spell she found to explain what had happened.
Ann read the spell carefully. "I don't know how this could make a care alarm go off." Ann stated as she read it again. "I don't even think this will work to shake a feather." Ann looked at Kindle. "Show me."
Kindle looked back at her. "What?"
"Well you did it a Luke's, show me." Ann insisted.
Kindle didn't know what to do. She didn't want Ann to loose interest so she decided to try and do it like she did in her dream. She found an old box and set it down on the table next to the book. Ann waited patiently as Kindle prepared to do the spell. Her nervousness continued to grow as she started the spell. She became consumed in the ritual like she had done it a thousand times. The feelings she was having flashed before her eyes with different colors. Kindle took a deep breath and held her hands out in front of her, pointing her fingers into the box. As she concentrated on pushing the emotions out of her body the nervousness she felt began to fade away. The anger that she held against Clair began to melt and her fingers felt hot as the feeling passed through them. She took the confusion about what was happening with the mirror and the dream and forced it all out in a dark blue color. Then she took all of the hesitation she had about getting into a relationship with Jake and filled the box with a purple stream. When she was done Kindle opened her eyes and looked at the box. Her mouth dropped open when she saw the colors dancing inside. Kindle grabbed the lid and secured it as best as she could to conceal the colors inside. Kindle placed her finger on the box and drew a pentagram starting from the end and finishing at the beginning on top. "Evanesco," She commanded. Kindle remembered that Ann was there and as she looked up at her friend, she didn't see fear in Ann's eyes but excitement.
Ann smiled and reached for the lid of the box. When she lifted it the box was completely normal. There was nothing in it that had any color at all. Kindle knew that Ann had seen everything that had happened. It wasn't just her imagination. "Wow," Ann whispered.
Kindle smiled at the thought of a team mate. She never really had anyone on her side and that made it a lonely journey. Now that she had the book, Kindle decided that she had to call Jake and inform him of her finding. She hoped that he wouldn't change his mind on how he felt about all of this. She didn't want to ruin what they had begun. But she called him anyway.
Ann and Kindle looked through the book until Jake arrived. Kindle greeted him at the door, "I want to show you something."
Kindle showed him the book. Jake's mouth dropped as he ran his fingers over the cover.
"Where did you find this?"
Kindle pointed to the armoire. She could tell that Jake recognized it. "Do you know who made it?" she asked getting very caught up in this whole legend thing.
"This book has been lost." He started. "Rachael said that when she was young and her grandmother died, her entire family looked for it. Rachael's father, who was adopted, wanted to burn it because he thought it was a book of evil he wanted to keep the family from continuing with the craft and convert to Christianity. When no body could find it, everyone suspected Rachael of taking it. Her father searched her room and all of her belongings probably a thousand times, but even to this day Rachael didn't know she had it. Nobody did." Jake looked directly at Kindle, "Rachael's grandmother was a Witch too, she is supposedly the last known woman to be a part of the legend."
"But why do you think that I am the next woman from the legend? You said last night that the legend chooses a woman every other generation. Wouldn't that make the woman Rachael or someone her age? I am the third generation since Rachael's grandmother." Kindle stated hoping to put a hole in his story. Even though she was excited to find this new power, she didn't want to be part of something that she knew nothing about. She just wanted to be normal and start her second year of collage in two weeks.
