The challenge we all face when trying to get home as quick as we can after a long day.
The Dash
By: Katie Lady

It's five o'clock
And here I am
Stuck in the middle
Of a traffic jam

The view from the dashboard
Is the same as the back
Cars lined up for miles
Speed is definitely what we lack

To my right there's a man
Shouting at his wife over the phone
Someone's going to be sleeping
On the couch when he gets home

To my left there's a teen
Blasting music to change the pace
He'll probably lose his hearing
Before he gets to his place

To my back there's a mother
With a child screaming loudly
I bet she is wishing
The child would sleep soundly

To my front there's a trucker
Striving to make deliveries on time
But at the rate traffic is going
He might make it by nine

This day has undoubtedly
Taken some tolls
On all of our restless
And worn-out souls

Suddenly within my line of sight
A sign from heaven came in range
It seems that I will get home on time
Assuming the green light doesn't change
