Root Beer Floats

I grabbed a refreshment
at Flo's Riverside Diner
then sat a table with a view
next to a tough guy with a shiner.

Another bruiser came his way.
They must be pals, I stupidly think.
The men began to push and shove
and knock over my drink.

It took a dive into the water
hitting a child's sailboat.
Well, would ya look at that-
I didn't know that root beer floats.
