I'm not sure how to describe this.
So many lives, decades upon decades
My soul remembers when life was simple
When we walked on the shores of Ireland and smiled
When we made promises and were sure not to break them
When life was nothing but simple
Before computers
Before even electricity
Before the American colonies
Life as simple as praying and smiling
And as simple as loving
There was bad then, yes I remember
But I do not remember it being this bad

This bad where smiles are reversed into frowns
Where children are made adults through death and violence
Where women and children and even grown men must be careful of where they go
For there are predators
Maybe it was this bad before
Maybe it was even worse

But my soul remembers not hearing that
The media arose and all there was was bad
I dare you my friends to turn on the TV at night and for once watch the news
Yes, it's bad, gloomy
And tears could not sum up the pain I feel for this world
Because before there were echos of our innocence and smiles to be seen
And now, our world has lost all innocence
In a way, it has lost it's soul

Surely you would see this
Surely you would try to see the good past the bad
The love past the hate
And the happiness past the fear
For if you don't, if we don't
What is left of this world?
What is left of us?

Try to see the good
Look past it all and remember
When we walked the shores of Ireland
And smiled and sang with angels
Remember love, remember light, remember laughter
And live
