My first completed love poem.
Well, I guess I was wrong. Maybe my love poems aren't bad after all... your choice. Pray tell,
Mr Z

Snatching in the air for some near poetic words,

Something that compares to and expresses things unheard,

Lingering within him, where these feelings have endured,

         All this time.

Something to lay down these feelings, turn around, forget,

Forget these things he's been concealing, ever since they met,

Those thoughts of her that, still appealing, live within him yet,

         And in this rhyme.

His features, sadly longing, his expression, oh! So grave,

Trying to forget her and these memories he saved,

He slowly bends and standing, throws a pebble to the waves,

         Where it sinks,

If only he could throw this feeling, let it fly apart,

Or finish this, the song, these strains are playing on his heart,

Though wonderful the song's been playing ever since the start,

         He needs to think!

But somehow all the words he needs just cannot make it out,

Somehow, he cannot succeed to bury what I write about,

And now he feels he must concede, and all alone, he shouts,

         Though she won't hear,

"Someday, some way, though I don't know how or where or when,

Someday, far away, you and I will meet again.

Though the chances seem unlikely, though you live across the seas,

If these waves will yet be striking separating you and me,

If mighty storms, if rain and lightning, all befell me angrily!

I'd still be sheltering this wish, through all the neverending storms,

One spark of hope I hold here would forever keep me warm,

Would light my way, the sweetest words my lips have ever formed.

For I promise you, my friend, that someday, somewhere,

         We will meet again."

He recalls their conversations, all her love, and all her patience, he recalls the joy, elation, living in him then,

         When she was there,

All the times, the happy greetings, ever since the joy of meeting, none of life had been proceeding in its normal way,

         When she was there,

He recalls the quick repeating, of his heart, which fluttered, beating, every time their every meeting, beautiful she was,

         When she was there.

If only it could be forgotten, all he let himself get caught in, just before the two had gotten separated by the sea.

But still these feelings stir, unfading, almost just to keep him waiting, hoping to again be trading glances with her, stricken he!

And still his heart, its cords and strainings, still they live in him, remaining, still his feelings arc them, playing, what a melody!

For instead, the only thoughts he's thinks, dwell on someone far away,

And it is still these thoughts he drinks, still hoping it could be, someday,

His words becoming loud, more clear,

Although he knows she'll never hear,

         Or will she?

"I know it now, and should have known it then,

I think it now and should have thought it then,

I say it now; I should have said it then,

But somehow, somewhere, we will meet again,

Though I don't know how, though I don't have plans,

If I have to cross both sea and land,

To find you my beloved friend,

         We will meet again.
