I wrote this when my son turned one to remember all his firsts. |
On November 22, 1996 I made my world debut. Cameras were flashing, and a few tears were shed too. On November 29, I showed daddy my first smile. December 6, I rode in the stroller awhile. December 10, brought my first bath in a tub. It made me want to scream ‘rub-a-dub-dub! The eleventh of December was a big day. I took my first trip to the park to play. January 16, I did my impression of our dog, Rover. Daddy cheered as he saw me roll over. Mommy, Daddy, and I traveled to McDonald’s to eat a bite, When on February 26, I laughed with all my might. March 25 brought something brand new. I got cereal all over me and ate some too. I was at Mimi’s house on April Fool’s Day, When I discovered peek-a-boo was the game to play. On April 9, Mommy grabbed the phone. She called to tell Daddy I could sit alone. On Mother’s Day, I took my first trip to the zoo. I was entranced with colorful fish and the ceiling fans, too. On July 21, I sat like a brave, little boy, So after my first haircut, I got a new toy! By August 9, I could get my hands on all the loot. I didn’t really crawl; it’s more like a scoot. It was August 14 when I became a talented guy. We were at Grammy’s house when I first waved bye-bye. On September 9, my coordination decided to shine, That’s the first day I stood alone, looking fine. On October 3, I was feeling cranky and crappy, But when Mommy saw my first tooth she looked happy. November 16, I took my first steps – one, two, three. So watch out world, ‘cause now I’m free! I know it appears I’ve done all my firsts just right, but Mommy is wondering when will I sleep through the night! Enjoy yourself at my birthday party of turning 2! It's just another milestone I happily share with you. I wrote this for my son's first birthday and gave out with the inviitations to have a record of all his "firsts". |
