SHADOWS OF DARKNESS


Shadows of darkness are what
Now encircle my life.
Everyday, instead of peace,
Brings me yet more of strife.

These gloomy shadows darken
Into the blackest night,
From which it seems there is not
Any hope of respite.

Yet when in my helplessness
I remember the Lord,
His kindness touches up a
Benign and hopeful chord.

He tells me not to despair
But, simply to go on
Following His commandments
Till night ends and it’s morn.
