Walking in the street everything's perfect.
It's heaven on earth.
But still
It is not my place,
Though it might have been yesterday.
Today the step was taken,
To become what most others are.
Unlike my peers,
Losing my innocence,
In one action.
I walked in with it,
And out
Into something different.
Surprised at how the world had changed,
In those few minutes.
The friendly looks, now devious.
Was it always this way?
Was I blinded,
by my innocence?
Or am I being fooled by this opposite?
Uncertainty washes over.
There's one thing I'm sure of;
I loved my innocence, its warmth, its surety.
This thing gives me danger,
Painted in cold silver.
