free form poem
I've always heard a different drummer in my head
But I rarely marched to him
Compliance and conformity the rule inbred
Never led by fancy or by whim

The bouncy music played between my ears
Surely tempted me at times
The fear of being seen as odd by my peers
My angst of the sublimes

The splendors of this canticle
Played such a lovely reverie
Sweet as flowers from the jonquil
Is the source of my esprit

I've learned to march to his beat
And the freedom that it gives
The sound of my drummer sweet
As in my head he lives
