a silly short story based on a writing assignment |
One day in the castle, a baby was born But the King and the Queen were very forlorn Until the three fairies came to bless The newborn child - what a mess! "I'll give her smarts!" the first of them cried "I'll give her kindness!" the second one tried "But I will give beauty!" the third fairy lied For you see, the third fairy's wand was fried. She knew her blessing would never work "No matter," the fairy thought with a smirk "They won't ever notice, for I have a plan. I will take her away in a great big van! 'For safety!' I'll say, but really it's not. My secret is safe!" ...or so she thought. The King and the Queen gave her permission She snatched up the baby and started her mission Into the forest they drove quite a while The fairy just couldn't help but smile "I'll find in the down a gorgeous grace To take the ugly baby's place!" Unknown to the fairy the town was far So she stopped and parked the car "It can wait a while...." she declared with a yawn Little did she know, she had parked on a lawn A witch's lawn it happened to be (She wasn't the brightest fairy, you see) So in the morning she found herself Trapped in a jar on the witch's shelf "Oh my!" she yelped, "I must escape!" But just then, with a swish of her cape, In came the witch, the baby in arm "Don't worry!" she cried, "I won't do any harm!" And she carefully set the small baby down Walked to the shelf and said with a frown, "You ruined my flowers, you near-sighted fairy, So from now on you will work in the dairy!" The 'witch' was kindhearted, but disciplined well (And without her there would be no story to tell) SHE blessed the child and made her a cutie Sent her back to the castle; she was named Sleeping Beauty |
