A Wasted War

I fought wars
just to keep you safe
within my love;
I destroyed all threats
that might of
taking you away;
I conquered the battle
of making your past
a distant fog.
Still,
My character became a casualty
when you crossed over
to the very same enemies
that has kept you in poverty
within your soul.
