It's an incomplete part of a novel. A story of crime and cops.
The cloaked man stalked his prey with caution. He knew that his mission was of supreme importance. His prey went inside a house, presumably his own. The cloaked man approached the front window, took out a grappling hook, and began to swing it back and forth. He released his grip. It went flying to the terrace where it got stuck in an antenna. He shed his cloak, and firmly grasped the rope dangling down. He climbed up to the second floor of the building. The lights in the room on his left went off, and a minute later, his thin hands opened the window. He jumped in and landed as lightly as a cat. It was a bedroom. The man savored his moment of triumph, feeling like one of those Hollywood assassins. But he was in for a shock.
‘Who is it?’ A faint but distant voice murmured. A figure shifted in the bed. Even in the dim light of the room, the now uncloaked man could see fear opening in his prey’s eyes. With lightning speed, he took out a knife and plunged it somewhere in the man’s stomach. He regretted doing that a second later.
‘Gaaa!’ The man screamed in shock. His pillow had a tear where the knife struck it. The assassin was alarmed. He remembered his boss’s orders: Go in, finish the target quietly, and come back. If he would have just struck him a second later, he would have noticed the pillow, and his target would have been stealthily finished off.
‘Stop him!’ The man was shouting. The assassin ran back to the window. He saw a police car roll over. He slid down the rope, picked up his cloak, and ran off into the middle of the night.

CHAPTER ONE

Constable Wally was no doubt a busy man; but today was no exception. Last night’s attempted murder had done little good to him. He also had another case to solve, one which involved stolen arms and a considerable amount of paperwork. He sat in his sweltering office; he was to interrogate the fortunate victim. He came sharply at ten o’ clock, wearing a tweed coat and baggy trousers. He sat down nervously, as if he were unsure if he was in the right place or not.
